A Great Place to Learn and Play

Welcome to Toby Wells YMCA’s  before- and after-school recreational program, serving students from transitional kindergarten (TK) to grade 8 at John Muir Language Academy.

The recreational program is an affordable way to ensure your child is in a safe, fun and caring environment before and/or after school. Each day includes a new program or activity to help children learn, build life skills and develop healthy relationships — including walking field trips, healthy snacks, sports and games, art and music, tutoring and more!

Our program is a license-exempt, recreational program where students have the opportunity to engage in educational assistance, daily physical activities, STEM and literacy programming, along with building life skills and developing healthy relationships. As a recreational program, the Y does not assume full responsibility for care of children and parents/guardians remain responsible for their child(ren). This means students may choose not to attend our program and/or leave the program at any time. To ensure safety, we ask that families communicate in advance if you are planning for your child to not attend or to leave on their own. If a student chooses to leave without prior notice, our staff will contact the parent/guardian to inform them. Students are welcome and encouraged to stay for the duration of the program until picked up by an authorized adult.

About Our Staff

All staff leaders are selected after a thorough interview and background check.

Fees FOR 2025-2026

Fees have been calculated based on an annualized rate of the total number of program days and divided into 10 equal monthly payments regardless of the number of school days per month of service. Fees cover all minimum days and parent/teacher conferences. Registration fee is $100 per child for participants, members can save up to 15% off.

Priority Registration

• May 16, 2025 – Current/Returning Before & After School Families
• May 19, 2025 – YMCA Members

Open Registration

• May 20, 2025 – Open Registration For All Families

This program is available only for students from John Muir Language Academy in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) to Grade 8.

Registration Fee is $100 per child for participants, members can receive up to 15% off.

Please allow 3 business days for paperwork and tuition fees to be processed before child care services may begin.

All fees are due in advance of the month of service. Fees are paid by ATS (bank draft) on the 1st. ATS are deducted monthly from your checking account.

If balances are not paid on time, your child may not participate in the program.
