Child Care
YMCA before and after school programs support children in reaching their full potential by providing academic support and hands-on enrichment experiences in a safe and structured environment for children grades kindergarten through middle school.
Located directly on your child’s school campus, we partner with the school by working directly with teachers to support student learning.
Our staff design engaging enrichment activities to help support your child’s learning in all areas.
Character Builders
Our Character Builders program provides quality, affordable and dependable care to elementary and middle school students. We provide before and after-school care, offering a safe place for youth to learn, grow, and thrive socially, emotionally, and physically. Program activities include homework support, health and wellness, visual and performing arts, sports, art, leadership development, service learning and character development.
Recreational Programs
The YMCA of San Diego County’s before- and after-school recreational programming provides a safe environment where children will engage in imaginative play and activities that stretch both mind and body, including physical education, creative arts, science, cooking, swimming and more. Utilizing both indoor and outdoor spaces, students will follow all guidelines for health and safety.
Expanded Learning Programs
The YMCA’s Expanded Learning Programs are before and after school (and summer) programs funded by the California Department of Education in partnership with local school districts.
We partner with local school districts, families, and communities to offer students safe and nurturing expanded learning programs that prepare them for college, career and life.
Expanded Learning Opportunity Programs
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) offers free or low-cost before school, after school and summer programs for eligible students, creating a safe, supportive space to learn and grow beyond the school day.
Each day includes a balance of homework support, hands-on enrichment and active play — from sports and STEM to arts and social-emotional learning.
Specialty and Enrichment Programs
The Y’s enrichment programming provides a safe environment where children will engage in imaginative play and activities that stretch both mind and body, including physical education, creative arts, science, cooking, swimming and more. From custodial programs that focus on teaching responsibility and essential life skills to recreational programs that provide opportunities for physical activity and creative expression, there is something for everyone.
