San Diego County YMCA branches offer a variety of programs and events as part of Active Clubs that offer our members opportunities to get out and get moving! Activities range from organized walks to group hikes at some of San Diego’s best trails to local runs, walks and triathlons. Whether you’re an avid hiker, a fitness enthusiast, or simply seeking to connect with others in your community, our clubs provide the perfect avenue for you to engage in activities while fostering a sense of community.

Hiking Clubs

Mission Valley YMCA

Personal trainer and group exercise class instructor, Tracy, will lead a small group on hikes around San Diego County. Hikes vary in location and difficulty. Registration is required for all hikes, so stop by the Welcome Center or sign up online. (Schedule is subject to change and weather permitting.)

In case of an emergency, our Y staff carries a cell phone, small first-aid kit and is CPR/First Aid certified.

Walking Clubs

Cameron Family YMCA

Join us on Thursdays at 7:30am and enjoy walking with friends, meeting new people and staying fit! Be sure to check in at the member services desk upon arrival.

Dan McKinney Family YMCA

Get your walking shoes ready! Join us for a walk to explore our surrounding neighborhood and enjoy a beautiful sunset. We encourage members to bring their strollers, too! Sunset Walking Club on Wednesdays at 6:00pm.

Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA

Our Ecke Y Walking Club meets twice weekly: Tuesdays at 8:00am and Saturdays at 8:15am. Members can sign in at the lobby before gathering outside in front of the Y. The route varies each week, and we have a light and non-light group!

McGrath Family YMCA

The McGrath walking club meets on Thursdays at 8:00am. We begin each session with a warm up in the soccer arena. Join us as we walk various light trails in the surrounding area. Sessions conclude with balancing and stretching cool down exercises. Be sure to check in at the member services desk upon arrival.

Running Clubs

South Bay Family YMCA

Whether you are preparing for a race or just running for exercise, connect with other runners through the South Bay Family YMCA Trail Runners Club. You must have some running experience and feel comfortable running 3-6 miles. All running levels are welcome. Please inquire at the member services desk for more information.
