Adventure Clubs At T. Claude and Gladys B. Ryan Family YMCA
The T. Claude and Gladys B. Ryan Family YMCA in Point Loma proudly offers Adventure Clubs — a unique opportunity for parents and children to connect through meaningful adventures, outdoor exploration and shared experiences.
These trips are more than just a vacation; they are chances to connect on a deeper level, to create memories that I know we will both treasure for a lifetime. It was a powerful reminder that sometimes the greatest adventures aren’t about the destination, but about who you share the journey with.

The Compass Points
At the core of Adventure Clubs are our Compass Points, which guide every activity and experience:
- Family: The “true north” of the program, centering everything around the parent-child bond
- Nature: Outdoor experiences like camping and hiking are a key part of every journey
- Community: Each group, or “Circle,” builds friendships and a sense of belonging
- Fun: The essential ingredient that turns moments into lifelong memories
The Adventure Club Aims
Each event is inspired by one of the Adventure Club Aims, which teach values of respect, friendship and stewardship. Kids who memorize and recite the Aims earn a special bead or bear claw for their lanyard necklace!
To be clean in body and pure in heart
To be friends forever with my dad/mom, son/daughter
To love the sacred circle of my family
To listen while others speak
To love my neighbor as myself
To respect the traditions and beliefs of all people
To seek and preserve the beauty of our Creator’s work in forest, field and stream
