SPLASH

This wet, wild and fun camp is sure to keep your little fishies busy! Campers will enjoy a fun-filled, jam-packed swimming lesson with outstanding YMCA-certified lifeguards, followed by an extended swim time full of splishing, splashing and sploshing! Campers will also participate in fun water activities on-site at the Y. When the children are not in the pool, they are having a blast participating in other camp activities such as arts and crafts, games, songs, sports and more.
SURF
Ages 7-12 | SEARCH CODE: CPSRF35 FIND SESSIONS
Surf’s up! Come hang ten with us this summer, and get your feet wet in the world of surfing in a safe, supervised, fun environment with YMCA surf staff. Start the week off on the beach learning how to pop up on your board and read the ocean. We will investigate different sets, breaks and tides. Surfers will learn paddling techniques and ultimately how to drop into the wave with our experienced instructors, who will also teach about water safety and equipment care. Daily instruction will be based on the ability levels of our campers, who will average an hour per day in the water. Our young surfers will also participate in beach sports and games. In the event of inclement weather or ocean conditions (e.g. rip tides, stingrays), campers will participate in beach activities until water entry is safe.
PLEASE NOTE: Campers will do a daily swim check consisting of going under two waves and swimming from one Y staff to another. The Y has a limited supply of instructional surfboards to loan and for campers to share. Campers with their own surfboards are welcome to bring them daily or leave them at the Y for the week. Y certified Lifeguards will be on site at the beaches daily.

Our Adaptive Camp Program is a designed to support youth with behavioral and developmental needs as it adapts the camp experience to your child’s needs and abilities, allowing opportunities for all campers to learn new skills, form new friendships and create lifetime memories. Campers will participate in activities with our traditional and specialty camps based on their interests at a pace that works for them. Our smaller camper-to-staff ratio for Adaptive Camp supports positive inclusion and/or one-on-one support as needed. Space is limited.

Explore the coves of Mission Bay in single and double kayaks! Campers will gain experience in their paddling techniques while playing fun games that foster collaboration and communication in the different coves of Mission Bay (conditions permitting).
Monday: Learn how to properly paddle and practice your skills while playing games in San Juan Cove.
Tuesday: Kayak games! Work on turning while playing team building games.
Wednesday: Obstacle course fun! Learn skills to control your kayak while paddling around our on-the-water obstacle course.
Thursday: Exploration day! Work on speed control in your kayak while exploring Mission Bay coves.

San Diego’s Airtrack Park offers an exciting, high-energy experience for kids who enjoy sports, adventure and fun! Utilizing the park’s signature airtrack facilities, campers have the opportunity to develop their skills in activities like trampoline jumping and tumbling as well as activities such as obstacle courses, group games and team-building exercises. Calling all young builders and future engineers! In this camp, imagination meets construction as campers design their own backyard board game. They’ll choose between creating a life-size corn hole or ring toss, using real tools to bring their ideas to life. From drilling and sanding to painting, campers will experience the thrill of building their custom game. Equestrian camp offers a hands-on introduction to horsemanship! Campers will learn to safely approach, lead, groom and bathe horses, identify horse anatomy and riding equipment and practice daily riding with one-on-one instruction. Safety skills, including how to fall properly, are also covered. Activities include exploring horse breeds, f irst aid, shoeing and types of feed, as well as learning about horse sports like polo, barrel racing, dressage, jumping and more. Campers get to build a variety of structures, and use just as diverse of an arsenal to tear them down! SURF | AGES 6-12

Surf’s up! Come hang ten with us this summer, and get your feet wet in the world of surfing in a safe, supervised, fun environment with YMCA surf staff. Start the week off on the beach learning how to pop up on your board and read the ocean. We will investigate different sets, breaks and tides. Surfers will learn paddling techniques and ultimately how to drop into the wave with our experienced instructors, who will also teach about water safety and equipment care. Daily instruction will be based on the ability levels of our campers, who will average an hour per day in the water. Our young surfers will also participate in beach sports and games. In the event of inclement weather or ocean conditions (e.g. rip tides, stingrays), campers will participate in beach activities until water entry is safe.
PLEASE NOTE: Campers will do a daily swim check consisting of going under two waves and swimming from one Y staff to another. The Y has a limited supply of instructional surfboards to loan and for campers to share. Campers with their own surfboards are welcome to bring them daily or leave them at the Y for the week. Y certified Lifeguards will be on site at the beaches daily.

Camp drop-off and pick-up takes place at Calvary Chapel Point Loma (4425 Valeta St.) which is directly next to our YMCA. Please follow signs to park or utilize drive-thru drop off. Please note that drive-thru drop off is Tuesday-Friday only. All parents must park to drop off on Mondays.

About Our Staff
Ryan Family YMCA takes pride in hiring the best people to fill our camp staff. Each camp leader was hand-selected through an extensive hiring process to ensure the safest environment for everyone. Staff training includes CPR and First Aid certification, transportation safety, behavior management and bully prevention, child protection and abuse prevention, field trip and off-site safety procedures, risk management/prevention and more.
PAYING FOR CAMP
- Pay in full (includes a $60 non-refundable deposit).
- Place a $60 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. Deposit discounts may apply based on membership type.
- Note: any day camps less than three days will have no deposit and will require to be paid in full at time of registration.
- For Summer sessions, balances will be due three weeks prior to the first day of camp.
- For school break camps, balance dues will be one week before the camp date.
- An active membership is required at the time of the program start date to receive the member pricing discount.
- Financial assistance is available through the Y’s ACCESS scholarship program or through third party payment support.
Deposits are non-refundable but can be immediately applied as a deposit for another camp if space is available or applied to an already existing camp balance within the same season. See our Refund/Voucher/Transfer Policies for more information.

ADAPTIVE CAMP
Our Adaptive Camp Program is a designed to support youth with behavioral and developmental needs as it adapts the camp experience to your child’s needs and abilities, allowing opportunities for all campers to learn new skills, form new friendships and create lifetime memories. Campers will participate in activities with our traditional and specialty camps based on their interests at a pace that works for them. Our smaller camper-to-staff ratio for Adaptive Camp supports positive inclusion and/or one-on-one support as needed. Space is limited.
PLEASE NOTE: Contact the Camp Director and/or Coordinator to initiate an enrollment request and help us prepare a great experience for your camper. We begin accepting enrollment requests on March 4, 2024 and strive to provide at least one week of camp to all interested families.
Camp Scholarships
Financial assistance is available to families who qualify. Applications are available at the service desk and online. Assistance is based on verified income and completed applications.
