High Fives

High Fives is a perfect fit for our younger campers. With staff supervision at low ratios, campers will spend their action-packed days doing arts and crafts, science projects, playing games and learning new skills.
Creative Discovery

Want a camp that offers games, arts and crafts? This traditional-style camp will provide your young camper with unforgettable experiences like racing through the 65-foot inflatable obstacle course and the Y Splash Pad and pool. This camp will focus on getting your camper's creative juices flowing!
Cooking

Order up! As one of our most popular choices, this camp will continue to bring you all-day cooking! Campers will work with experienced chefs from Arimaw Productions to create everything from appetizers to main courses and desserts! Join us as we turn your camper into a culinary expert. Jewelry Making

Campers have one week to design and create a complete collection of earrings, rings, necklaces, hair clips and so much more! Designs will be made from a variety of materials. Each camper will walk away with many projects from their new collection!
MULTISPORT
Ages 6-10 | SEARCH CODE: CPMSP25 FIND SESSIONS
Campers will be exposed to recreational skills building and fun games in basketball, baseball, soccer, flag football and more. Counselors will focus on sportsmanship and encourage all campers to try new sports. Become a true athlete!
SKATE
Ages 7-12 | SEARCH CODE: CPSKT25 FIND SESSIONS
This camp is for the beginner skateboard level and up. Camper’s skills will be assessed on day one to determine group placement. The beginner groups will receive hands-on instruction time to gain the skills and confidence to skate on their own. The afternoons will be dedicated to free skate where the beginners are able to practice the skills they worked on in group instruction. The intermediate/advanced groups will be challenged to attempt new skills and tricks by counselors, but will not receive group instruction time. A Skate Jam will be held on Friday where families can watch campers show off their rad new skills.
Note: If your child is a first timer, we recommend 1-2 months of skateboard lessons prior to their camp week. The instruction in skate camp is more limited due to the size of the groups.

Please Note: Dale Holmes Racing provides all bikes and equipment, and campers must know how to ride a bike. Long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and closed-toe shoes are required for riding, but campers can bring shorts for after-ride activities. Equestrian Camp offers a hands-on introduction to horsemanship! Campers will learn to safely approach, lead, groom and bathe horses, identify horse anatomy and riding equipment and practice daily riding with one-on-one instruction. Dive into the nitty-gritty of “real” coding! Our week kicks off with coding two awesome robots and from there campers will venture into the realm of JavaScript, conjuring up our very own game. Campers will also delve into circuitry and create a game console, of course coding the game as we go. By the end of the week, they will be throwing around Java lingo like a pro! No previous programming experience required.

Campers will spend two-and-a-half hours each day receiving ability-specific instruction from expert gymnastics coaches. Small groups based on skill level will ensure maximum development. The rest of the day will include practice, open gym and fun camp activities.
At the end of the week, campers will showcase their new skills in a performance for parents, family and friends on Friday.

Slide down the inflatable structure, bounce on the floating toys, kayak across the lagoon and hunt for crabs! Campers travel to the YMCA’s Aquatic Park to swim, kayak, paddle board and play with all of the inflatables in the lagoon. Regardless of ability, all campers will wear lifejackets while in the water. Campers must bring sturdy shoes for activities and time on land.

Surf’s up! Come hang ten with us this summer, and get your feet wet in the world of surfing in a safe, supervised, fun environment with YMCA surf staff. Start the week off on the beach learning how to pop up on your board and read the ocean. We will investigate different sets, breaks and tides. Surfers will learn paddling techniques and ultimately how to drop into the wave with our experienced instructors, who will also teach about water safety and equipment care. Daily instruction will be based on the ability levels of our campers, who will average an hour per day in the water. Our young surfers will also participate in beach sports and games. In the event of inclement weather or ocean conditions (e.g. rip tides, stingrays), campers will participate in beach activities until water entry is safe.
Families are invited to eat lunch with campers and watch our traditional surf competition on Fridays at Swamis.
PLEASE NOTE: Campers will do a daily swim check consisting of going under two waves and swimming from one Y staff to another. The Y has a limited supply of instructional surfboards to loan and for campers to share. Campers with their own surfboards are welcome to bring them daily or leave them at the Y for the week. Your camper will be introduced to the vast world of track and field including long jump, hurdles and more, as well as many relays and games. Campers will learn rules and set up of events as well as have time to practice and further their skills.

Viral Dance | AGES 7-12

Have popular dance trends been living rent free in your camper’s mind? Campers, regardless of skill, are invited to learn and participate in viral choreography trending today.
Note: We will not be uploading any of the videos to TikTok. Any videos made by campers will not have any inappropriate language or themes.

World Of Wicked! | AGES 6-10
DATES: AVAILABLE ALL CAMP SESSIONS (June 16-20, July 28-August 1)
Step into the mysterious world of Wicked! Campers will immerse themselves in Wicked-themed arts and crafts, creating their own magical keepsakes, from glittering wands to themed accessories. With plenty of creativity and imagination, campers will also spend an hour each day with one of our YMCA dance instructors, learning a dance routine from the musical. Whether you’re a fan of Wicked or new to the magic, this camp is the perfect place to discover the magic within you.

Zoo Camp | AGES 7-13

Get ready for a wild adventure exploring the world-famous San Diego Zoo! Spend your days up close with incredible animals, from towering giraffes to playful pandas, while learning about their habitats and conservation efforts. With behind-the-scenes tours, fun animal-themed games, and exciting hands-on activities, this camp is perfect for young wildlife enthusiasts. Whether you’re a future zookeeper or just love animals, you’re in for a roaring good time!

About Our Staff
The Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA takes pride in hiring the best people to fill our camp staff. Each camp leader was hand-selected through an extensive hiring process to ensure the safest environment for everyone. Staff training includes CPR and First Aid certification, transportation safety, behavior management and bully prevention, child protection and abuse prevention, field trip and off-site safety procedures, risk management/prevention and more.
PAYING FOR CAMP
- Pay in full (includes a $60 non-refundable deposit).
- Place a $60 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. Deposit discounts may apply based on membership type.
- Note: any day camps less than three days will have no deposit and will require to be paid in full at time of registration.
- For Summer sessions, balances will be due three weeks prior to the first day of camp.
- For school break camps, balance dues will be one week before the camp date.
- An active membership is required at the time of the program start date to receive the member pricing discount.
- Financial assistance is available through the Y’s ACCESS scholarship program or through third party payment support.
Deposits are non-refundable but can be immediately applied as a deposit for another camp if space is available or applied to an already existing camp balance within the same season. See our Refund/Voucher/Transfer Policies for more information.

Your family’s safety is our top priority. We have implemented safety protocols that follow state and local guidelines. It’s our priority to help your children enjoy a safe and fun program that builds lasting friendships.
Medical Release Form - Required
Vendor Waivers
Some specialty camps, particularly those that travel to an off-site location, require an additional vendor waiver. Camps that require a waiver to be completed will be contacted and provided the waiver before the start of camp.
Adaptive Camp
Our Adaptive Camp Program is a designed to support youth with behavioral and developmental needs as it adapts the camp experience to your child’s needs and abilities, allowing opportunities for all campers to learn new skills, form new friendships and create lifetime memories. Campers will participate in activities with our traditional and specialty camps based on their interests at a pace that works for them. Our smaller camper-to-staff ratio for Adaptive Camp supports positive inclusion and/or one-on-one support as needed. Space is limited.
PLEASE NOTE: Contact the Camp Director and/or Coordinator to initiate an enrollment request and help us prepare a great experience for your camper. We begin accepting enrollment requests on March 4, 2024 and strive to provide at least one week of camp to all interested families.
Camp Scholarships
Financial assistance is available to families who qualify. Applications are available at the service desk and online. Assistance is based on verified income and completed applications.
