Take camper adventures to the next level this summer! Build self-confidence, meet new friends and have a blast exploring San Diego. Get a thrill from activities at the camp facility such as sports clinics, science experiments and arts & crafts, while exploring exciting weekly themes. Soak up the sun, ride the waves and get creative in the sand! At Boogie Boarding & Sandcastles campers can cruise the waves on their boogie boards, build awesome sandcastles and hang out with friends at the beach. Campers can expect to be splashing in the surf, playing beach games or enjoying the ocean breeze, each and everyday.
PLEASE NOTE: Campers will do a daily swim check consisting of going under two waves and swimming from one Y staff to another. Get your hard hats on and get ready to Build, Test, Battle! Campers will learn the Engineering Process to design, make prototypes and test their builds. Campers will discover what makes an incredible catapult - including tension and trajectory. They will go through a safety lesson that prepares them to use REAL tools, including saws, drills and sanding (never a favorite, but essential!) This is no skewer and marshmellow catapult - this is a life-size catapult that stands 2-3 feet tall. The fun gets bigger and wilder at the end of the week when campers split into teams and lay seige to unleash a barrage of water balloons, putting their catapults to the ultimate test. You’ll be amazed how excited and innovative campers are when they are inspired to build, experiment and test their own ideas.

Hook Line & Sinker takes campers around to some of the best fishing spots in the county to try their hand at reeling in the big catch! We teach the fundamentals of fishing, such as how to put together the best line for the location and desired catch, how to safely handle a rod to prevent harm to yourself and those around you and the little behaviors that will improve your chances of catching a fish. Throughout the week, we will take campers pier fishing at various locations and on a half-day boat trip onto the open water after the biggest catch possible. Don’t have your own rod? No problem! While we encourage campers to bring their own rods, we do have loaner rods for those who don’t have their own that will still do the trick.

This camp is designed to be a fun and educational experience for beginner and intermediate ice skaters. Traveling to San Diego Ice Arena, campers will get 30 minutes of instructional lessons every day. Lessons are followed by a two-hour public session where they will skate to the latest tunes. Parents are invited to a basic skills show on Friday. Only skates are provided. However, campers may bring their own skates and gloves. PLEASE NOTE: Campers must bring socks each day. If you don’t have a helmet, one will be provided.

A cooking camp with a creative twist. Campers will work as a class to design their restaurant, learn how to make a variety of different foods to serve at their restaurant, assemble a menu from the items they learned to make and invite family and friends to their restaurant’s grand opening on the final day of camp. Children will learn how to perform cooking methods such as proper cutting, boiling and pan frying in as safe an environment as possible and under the watchful eyes of our cooking instructors. Surf’s up! Come hang ten with us this summer and get your feet wet in the world of surfing in a safe, supervised fun environment with YMCA Surf staff. Start the week off on the beach learning how to pop up
on your board and read the ocean. We will investigate different sets, breaks and tides. Surfers will learn paddling techniques and ultimately how to drop into the wave with our experienced instructors who will also teach about water safety and equipment care. Daily instruction will be based on the ability levels of our campers, who will average two hours per day in the water. Our young surfers will also participate in beach sports and games. Limited beginner boards are available
— children sharing loaner boards may experience limited time in the water. Any boards brought by surfers must have nose and fin guards to be permitted for use. In the event of inclement weather or ocean conditions (e.g. rip tides, stingrays), campers will participate in beach activities until water entry is safe. Rash guards are required daily.
PLEASE NOTE: Campers will do a daily swim check consisting of going under two waves and swimming from one Y staff to another. Y Certified Lifeguards will be on site at the beaches daily.

Campers will travel to Velocity Paintball during the week for an ultimate paintball play experience. When paintballing, all campers should wear pants and shoes with excellent traction. Gloves are recommended and are not provided. Coveralls, face masks and all paintball equipment will be provided. Safety conscious referees will be present during all paintballing. Extra clothing is advised to provide additional padding.
PLEASE NOTE: Although all paintball guns are checked by the referees and set for safety at a velocity of 250 feet per second or less, some hits may still cause bruising. It is recommended to wear pants and long sleeve shirts during the paintball sessions.

Most camps will spend two rotations focusing on their specialty activity. The additional two rotations that occur throughout the day are spent at our Activity Stations which include activities like arts and crafts, STEAM, songs, games and more!
A significant portion of the day is spent playing outside.
Please make sure you apply sunscreen to your kids before dropping them off.

The American Camp Association is the only nationwide organization that accredits children’s camps. The ACA Accreditation process is a commitment by camps to the highest standards of health, safety and program quality. Do you offer financial assistance?
We offer financial assistance through our Access Scholarship Program to qualified applicants, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

What do I need to send with my camper each day?
We will supply the atmosphere for a great camp experience and ask that you send your camper with a lunch, at least two snacks, a water bottle, sunscreen, hat and closed-toe shoes.
Campers will spend a significant amount of time outdoors. We recommend applying sunscreen before you get to camp and our camp staff will supply sunscreen to campers regularly throughout the day.
What happens if a day camp I want to register for is full?
If a camp is full, you may add your child to the waitlist. As spots open, families will be contacted in waitlist order until May 15, 2026. After May 15, the waitlist will be cleared, and families will receive an email inviting them to join the interest list, which will register on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: families previously on the waitlist must add themselves to the interest list using the link provided in that email. Once the waitlist option closes, you can visit our website blog to view camp updates and alternative camp suggestions, families will also be emailed when new information is posted.
Can you tell me more about camp fees and deposits?
A nonrefundable deposit of up to $60 is required for each week of camp. Deposits are applied to the camp fee. Camp fees are the published rates in this brochure and are good up to the Monday before camp begins. To discuss payment options, please contact the branch.
When will information on the camp week be available?
General pre-camp emails will be sent out on the Tuesday prior to the start of camp.
What are Traditional Camps?
Traditional camps are ultra-spirited, fun-filled camps with weekly themes that guide activities for the week. New experiences, skill building, a sense of community and lasting friendships are all part of traditional day camp experience.
What are Specialty Camps?
